- {C}MAC.DOC
-
- This .DOC file and the {c}READ.ME file should give you enough
- information to run the COMMO.MAC file included. I will assume that you
- are somewhat familiar with {COMMO} and have read the manual.
-
- You will note that the COMMO.MAC file is divided into 9 sections. I
- will explain each section in turn.
-

- █ SECTION 1: PROTOCOLS █
- █▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█
-
- This section contains all the external protocols that I use. To use
- them you must have DSZ.COM, PUMA.EXE, CLINK.EXE, and ZMAX.EXE in your
- COMMO directory. They may be activated by pressing Alt-M, moving the
- selector bar to the proper line and pressing enter. The may also be
- activated by pressing the function key assigned. See SECTION 2:
- FUNCTION KEY ASSIGNMENTS.
-
- Note that Zmodem and Puma downloads are automatic if you have your
- COMMO.CFG file setup properly.

- Macros for Shifted Function Keys
- ===============================================================================
- {sf1} .REP upload mark and dial.
- This macro looks in your upload directory and determines which
- .REP packets are present. It will mark those BBSs and start
- the dialing sequence. Only uploads will be made.
-
- {sf2} Dial only those BBSs which are already marked and download
- mail. If .REP packets are present they will be uploaded
- prior to mail download.
-
- {sf3} Dial only those BBSs which are already marked and upload .REP
- packets.
-
- {sf4} Mail mark and Dial.
- Mark all the BBSs that you receive net mail from and start
- the dial sequence. Uploads will be made first if they are
- present.
-
- {sf5} Deletes all "flag files".
- These macros use dummy files in your COMMO directory to act
- as "flags." This is normally run automatically at the start
- of all operations that use them. I use it here mostly for
- program development.
-
-
- {sf6} Time mark. (Requires 4dos) Places a time and date mark in
- capture file.
-
- {sf7} List commo.use file.
- Uses Berg's LIST.COM to show the Log file. (I have changed
- the name to COMMO.USE.) You will note that I use LIST.COM
- extensively. It is in a directory that is not in my path so
- as not to be confused with the LIST function in 4DOS.
- LIST.COM may be found on most any BBS as LISTXXXX.ZIP.(X's
- indicate version number.)
-
- {sf8} Scrollback.
- Uses LIST.COM. You may prefer the internal scroll back in
- {COMMO}. I find that LIST.COM gives me more options.
-
- {sf9} Dir of reply packets.
- Shows only the .REP packets in the ULDL directory.
-
- {sf0} Dir of mail packets.
- Shows only the .QWL packets in the ULDL directory.

- {nf1} Simple logon.
- Replace FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME, and PASSWORD as required and

- not have a linked macro logon.
-
- {nf2} Logon for Wildcat! BBSs.
-
- {nf3} Calls SHEZ in ULDL dir.
- (SHEZ is a shell for zip. It is very useful for viewing
- zipped files.)

- development.
-
- {nf5} Renames .QWK file (Uses 4DOS.)
-
- {nf6} Call Wildcat Mail download.
-
- {nf7} Quiet modem. This sends a string to the modem to silence the
- dialing tones. (Useful late at night when your wife is
- asleep.)
-
- {nf8} Loud modem. Sets modem back to normal volume.
-
- {nf9} Uses LIST.COM to view the COMMO.DOC file.
-
- {nf0} Calls LIST.COM in the ULDL directory.

- Docs for details)
-
- {af0} Online quoting macro. First select Reply on the BBS,
- then press Alt-F10. This will pop you into the
- backscroll buffer. You can then use Alt-I to save the

- will be in QEDIT. Edit the complete message and exit
- normally from QEDIT. The message will be uploaded with

-
- {cf1} Automatic file download mark and dial.
- (Checks the ULDL dir for .GET files, marks those BBSs, dials
- them and downloads the file list.)

- files from, dials and downloads automatically.
-
- {cf3} Calls BIMENU. (For BIMODEM transfers.)
-
- {cf5} Delay for Mail run.
- (All the delay routines must have the activation time set in
- the macro itself. Just type Alt-M, scroll to the time you
- want to set, press E, type in the time, press escape twice.
- I like to start my mail macro at 3 pm, {15:00}, each day.

- █ SECTION 3: DELAY ROUTINES █
- █▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█
-
- The Delay routines are explained above. Set the time in 24 hour format
- and call it. It will wait until the appointed time.
-

- █ SECTION 4: LOGON █
- █▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█
-
- These logon routines will log you on to Wildcat! BBSs, and PCBoards.
-
- If they are linked to the dialing directory they will run automatically
- when you connect with the BBS.
-
-
- █▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀█

- █▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█
-
- This section should be modified to the BBSs that you download from.
-
- Note that both nodes for CYBER and the DOORS to the South are marked.
- After a successful connect. The other node is unmarked. This is true
- in all the automatic routines.
-
- If .REP packets are present they will be uploaded prior to the .QWK
- download. After the .REP's are uploaded they are renamed and moved
- to the OLDREP directory. The .QWK packets are renamed after
- download. The 4DOS .BAT files RENQWK and RENREP are used for
- renaming. (See: How I Handle Net Mail in the {C}READ.ME file.)

- █▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█
-
- This macro looks for the presence of .REP packets, marks the
- appropriate boards, calls and uploads them. It does not download
- .QWK packets.
-
-
- █▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀█
- █ SECTION 7: AUTOMATIC FILE DOWNLOAD. █

- The keys in this section are used by full screen editors such as Visual
- Editor in ProDoor, PCBoard's full screen editor, ANSIED in RBBS and
- others. They may be changed to suit your own needs (all keys do not
- work with all editors). See Appendix D in COMMO.DOC for details on
- character representation.
-
- Note that the left arrow function (^S) is also the XOFF character.
- This may cause a problem on some systems. If pressing the left arrow
- seems to hang the remote, press ^Q and change the "lfa" macro to:
